     Time For Tuscany

A fully hosted week at a private villa near Lucca

Six nights. One villa. The Tuscany you’ll talk about for years.

Join us at Villa Michaela, a glorious, tranquil, frescoed villa within easy reach of Florence and Pisa airports and only 6 kms from the historical center of Lucca, a  walled city dating back to the 14th century and - more recently - the scene of a film shoot with Dustin Hoffman... much to the excitement of us locals!

We are an English-speaking family-run villa and we would love to share with you the wonderful discoveries of places to visit which we have been lucky enough to experience over the past 40 years.

Time for Tuscany is an all-inclusive week at Villa Michaela, our 18th-century frescoed villa in the hills above Lucca. For more than 40 years our family has been discovering the corners of Tuscany that guidebooks miss. Now we share them with a small group of guests who want to experience Italy the way we live it.

Your days are filled with Tuscany’s finest: Lucca’s Renaissance walls, the vineyards of Chianti, the marble mountains of Carrara, wine tastings at historic estates and hands-on Italian cooking classes. Every evening you come home to the villa, to the garden, the frescoes, a glass of wine and dinner at a long shared table.

No planning, no driving, no queues. Just Tuscany, slowly.

Explore our suggested Tuscan travel itinerary in the brochure below,

and join us for one of our 2027 stays (6 nights, Sunday to Saturday)

Your week in Tuscany

Days 1 & 2 · Arrival and Lucca
We collect you from Pisa Airport or Lucca station and welcome you to the villa. A private bilingual guide leads you through Lucca’s walls, piazzas and hidden churches, with a long lunch in town and time for the boutiques. In the evening there’s an optional opera recital in a candlelit church.

Day 3 · Pisa & Livorno
The Leaning Tower and the Square of Miracles in the morning. Then on to Livorno’s historic covered market, where we choose fresh ingredients for that evening’s cooking class at the villa.

Day 4 · Puccini, Pietrasanta & Carrara
Puccini’s lakeside villa at Torre del Lago, lunch in Pietrasanta, the sculptors’ town, and a guided tour of the Carrara marble quarries, where Michelangelo chose his stone.

Day 5 · Impruneta Terracotta & the Chianti Hills
In Impruneta, a hill town that has shaped terracotta for more than seven centuries and supplied the tiles for Brunelleschi’s dome in Florence, we visit a family workshop where pots are still made by hand. Then we follow the winding Chiantigiana road past cypresses, vineyards and olive groves to Greve in Chianti, for a Chianti Classico tasting and a long Tuscan lunch.

Day 6 · Villa Torrigiani & Fattoria Maionchi
A Baroque villa and its gardens, followed by a wine and olive oil tasting with lunch at a historic estate. The afternoon is yours, by the pool or in Lucca.

Day 7 · Arrivederci
A last breakfast in the garden, then a transfer to Pisa Airport or Lucca station.
